SCI Awareness Month

We celebrated SCI Awareness Month (September) with a unique collaborative event co-hosted by the Brooks Rehabilitation Research Center, the University of Florida BREATHE Center, and SHARP. During the event, we brought together basic science researchers, PhD students, clinicians, research staff, and people with SCI. We hosted research demonstrations and facilitated small group conversations so people could tell their stories and views around SCI and SCI research.

Open House

The focus of SHARP is to crease engagement and communication between those involved in SCI research and individuals with or affected by SCI. This event was focused on welcoming people with SCI, caregivers, and clinicians into the Brooks Rehabilitation Research Center to learn more and interact. We had research stations led by teams of people with SCI and research staff showing intermittent hypoxia and walking interventions with stimulation. We also hosted a short SHARP Science to introduce community members to our monthly meetings.
